Bliss, The Slave of Duty
As I was standing at another tedious lawyer function on Friday, and lacking the ability to engage in any small-talk related to leather shoes, luxury SUVs, or golf, I decided that I would bill the host of the party.
HOURS
1/26/07 - 1.2 hours - Research possible attendees to assess potential personal conflicts.
1/26/07 - .2 hours - Review and analyze clothing options.
1/26/07 - .5 hours - Research current event topics in preparation for small talk.
1/26/07 - .5 hours - Shower/grooming/dressing in preparation for attendance.
1/26/07 - .2 hours - Telephone strategy conferences with other attendees re: anticipated events.
1/26/07 - .3 hours - Travel to function.
1/26/07 - 2.1 hours - Attend function.
1/26/07 - .3 hours - Return travel from function.
1/26/07 - .2 hours - Telephone strategy conferences re: post-event analysis, and strategy going forward.
1/31/07 - .1 hours - Research and prepare blog entry re: same.
HOURLY SUBTOTAL - 4.4 hours @ $175/hr. = $770.00
COSTS
Mileage, 15 miles @.485 = $7.28
COSTS SUBTOTAL - $7.28
TOTAL - $777.28
My hope, of course, is that this will dramatically cut back on the number of lawyer functions.
